Norton launches Neo, a free browser that anticipates your actions and protects your data.

Officially launched worldwide and now available for free , Norton Neo marks a new stage for the American publisher, well known for its antivirus.

With Neo , Norton aims to restore users’ confidence and transform browsing into a clearer, safer, and truly personalized environment…

Norton Neo stands out with its very deliberate philosophy, offering
proactive assistance . Where traditional assistants wait for a command, Neo observes the context to
anticipate what the user might want to do .

This can involve summarizing an article, grouping tabs, or suggesting a reminder in the calendar. Everything happens without explicit requests, using a ”  zero-prompt  ” approach that aims to reduce the cognitive load of everyday digital life.

Following this logic, tab management has been completely redesigned. Thanks to ”  Smart Tab Management “, open pages are automatically reorganized into thematic groups.

From movies to social networks to office applications, each area is organized into a coherent folder. This allows it to directly compete with Perplexity’s Comet or OpenAI’s Atlas browser , which Neo now directly confronts in the field of native AI.

The other major focus of this browser is obviously security, an area where the brand enjoys a strong reputation. Norton Web Shield analyzes visited websites in real time and automatically blocks phishing, suspicious links, and other suspicious behavior.

The browser also offers built-in ad and tracker blocking, inherited from Norton’s ”  Private Browser  “. One of its most notable features remains its ”  configurable memory “.

Unlike other browsers that save user preferences or context, Neo gives users complete control: they choose what the browser can remember , what it should forget, or whether to disable this feature altogether, via a chat interface that allows them to manage information such as projects, favorite sites, and browsing habits. This approach reconciles personalization and privacy , a central theme in the group’s messaging.

”  Many AI browsers focus on intelligence, but forget about security ,” notes Howie Xu , Chief AI and Innovation Officer at Gen, Norton’s parent company.

Available now on Windows and Mac, the browser will arrive on iOS later. For the time being, there’s no sign of paid features, although Norton has already mentioned the possibility of premium modules in the future…
